What Boards Are Suitable for PUR Edge Banding?

PUR hot melt adhesive can be used for edge banding a variety of wood-based panels, including MDF and particleboard. Depending on the adhesive grade and application process, it may also be suitable for plywood, OSB and other engineered wood panels.

The condition of the board edge is important for reliable bonding. Dust, contamination, excessive surface variation and other surface defects can negatively affect adhesion.

The edge banding material and its reverse coating must also be compatible with the selected adhesive.

For demanding applications, manufacturers should evaluate the board, edge band, adhesive and edge banding equipment together rather than selecting the adhesive based on the board material alone.
